The Initial Problem: Balancing Affordability with Profitability

A housing real estate developer, managing a mix of multifamily units and single-family homes, was facing a dilemma: maintaining profitability while meeting affordability goals. To complicate matters, the developer was receiving negative feedback from tenants regarding delayed services and lack of community engagement.



The Finance and Operations teams struggled to keep maintenance costs in check, while the Marketing and Sales departments found it difficult to position the properties competitively in a crowded market.


Brainstorming sessions among the teams generated temporary ideas, such as offering rental discounts and incentives, but these failed to solve the underlying issues.
